Does It Really Matter?
It is not uncommon today to hear people say that all religions lead to God. That so long as a person tries to live a good life he will go to Heaven.
Many religious leaders are saying that it doesn’t matter if one is a Hindu, Muslim, Buddhist, Shintoist, Animist or Christian, we are all headed in the same direction. It’s up to the individual to ‘do the best he can’ to win favor with the gods or God or whatever ‘Ultimate Reality’ they believe will reward them at the end.
What they are really saying is, “It Doesn’t Matter What You Believe — As Long As You Are Sincere.”
This is really a two-fold statement. One addresses ‘what we believe’ and the other whether ‘sincerity alone,’ is enough.
